LINUX

Google uses a farm of over 10,000 Linux servers to handle over 200 million search requests per day - over 2,000 search queries per second at peak hours. The Los Alamos National Laboratory operates the world's fastest Linux-based supercomputer. Making use of 2816 AMD Opteron processors, it is capable of peak performance of over 11 TeraFlops.
